A new Saturday Night Massacre??

Is the White House behind the wholesale firings of US Attorneys?? Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty testified under oath that the decision to terminate 8 US Attorneys was not political at all. However, word now leaks out that in fact, the Chief of Staff to the Attorney General was indeed in regular communication with the White House Counsel about which US Attorneys to terminate, discussions were had about the political fallout, and that Chief of Staff made clear in emails that KARL ROVE wanted his "protege" installed as the US Attorney for the Eastern Districk of Arkansas. A powerful Republican Senator calls a US Attorney in New Mexico to inquire about the status of an investigation of Democrats, hangs up on the Republican-appointee US Attorney when advised that no indictments would be returned before the upcoming November election, and the US Attorney is fired shortly thereafter. The appalling policiticization of the Department of Justice goes on and on and is appalling.

The resignation of the Chief of Staff to the Attorney General under a cloud, coming just days after the conviction of the Chief of Staff to the Vice President is convicted of perjury and obstructiono of justice, shows how corruption reigns at the very top of the Administration.

Sickening.

"The appalling policiticization of the Department of Justice"

I like it, kind of like Clinton, except he/she let em all go.

As Reno, said, "we want to appoint people that we like".

All incoming Presidents appoint new US Attorneys. Name me one who, 5 years in, fired 7 at once (and an 8th a few weeks earlier)?? And which President sent a Deputy AG to provide false testimony to Congress about the process behind the firings (testimony that the WH knew was false when given)?? And the Chief of Staff to the AG for which President pushed to get a friend of the President's top political advisor installed as a US Attorney in stead of one of the fired US Attorneys without Senate approval?? And which President fired a US Attorney a few weeks after a Republican Senator complained to the President about the handling of a corruption case handled by that US Attorney's involving political opponents of the Senator's local party officials, a few weeks after internal records show that US Attoney was NOT targeted for firing by the DOJ prior to the improper meddling by the Senator??

Although there are two Bushes who've been President, only one lives up to that legacy of shame.

you got the big scoop, i can't believe we didn't already know that Politicians are corrupt!

you mean Gaius Julius Caesar was assassinated by members of his own party (army)?

this web site sucks now, what happened to those frenchies from louisiana? LSU should play ND every year for homecoming and give Tulane a break.
